| See my post at http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1001493 I have confirmed that while it is not required to connect the neutral switch from the manual transmission (or the automatic for that matter) it does affect how the ECU sets timing. If the ECU cannot tell when the Z is in neutral it assumes it is in gear and then thinks the timing should be at 25 degrees. So if you are like most people and set the timing with a timing light by adjusting the CAS and set it to 15 degrees you are missing out on a boatload of power. This is because when the ECU thinks the transmission is in neutral (which is what it assumes when the neutral switch is not connected) it sets the timing at 25. End result is the engine is really at 15 degrees since that is what you set it at but that is not what the ECU will show when hooked up to ConZult or DataScan. If your neutral switch is not connected or is bad the interim solution is to set the timing at 25 degrees with the transmission in neutral. This way what the timing light shows and what the ECU displays are in synch. The solution of course is for those of us that have done the automatic to manual transmission swap to figure out which wires to splice into from the neutral switch on the transmission. Surely someone here can shep some light on where to hook up the wires from the neutral switch on the manual transmission to???
